The Birth of Polk Pride
Polk Pride, a powerful symbol of love and equality, traces its roots back to the visionary minds behind the Lakeland Youth Alliance (LYA). Recognizing the importance of fostering a safe haven, the idea for Polk Pride was born. In June 2015, the inaugural Pride in the Park event marked the beginning of a transformative journey.

At the core of Polk Pride's mission is unwavering support and advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community in Polk County. Collaborating closely with Lakeland Youth Alliance (LYA) and PFLAG of Polk County (Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), Polk Pride provides vital resources, safe spaces, and a platform for raising awareness. Through informative panels, educational programs, and partnerships with organizations like Equality Florida, Polk Pride works tirelessly to protect LGBTQ+ rights.

Pride On Tap: Launching the beginning of Pride Week in Lakeland, this event will take place on Saturday, June 10, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Swan Brewing. Raise a glass and kick off the festivities in style.
Pride For Youth: A Pride Party hosted by Lakeland Youth Alliance, this event is perfect for kids aged 11-17. Join in on the fun on Wednesday, June 14, from 6:30 to 9:00 pm at the United Women's Club.
Pride In Faith: An Interfaith Celebration of Pride, promoting love, acceptance, and spiritual unity, will be held on Thursday, June 15, at 7:00 pm at Beacon Hill Fellowship.
Pride Kickoff: Get ready for an electrifying night of drinks, dancing, and drag on Friday, June 16, from 9:00 pm to 2:00 am at The Parrot.
Pride In The Park: A delightful Pride celebration for the whole family, come together on Saturday, June 17, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at Munn Park. Enjoy a day filled with joy, live entertainment, and community connections.
